History of M. D. Wessler & Associates, Inc.
After 15 years of Project Engineering and Management experience, Melvin D. Wessler, P.E., formed M. D. Wessler
& Associates, Inc. in 1975 to provide professional consulting services in engineering, and construction
management. In 1977, the company acquired the civil engineering consulting firm of J. B. Wilson &
Associates, Inc. The first major project of the company was serving as Project Manager of the $30 Million
East and South Marion County Interceptor Sewer Projects. These projects consisted of the design and installation
of more than 30 miles of regional sanitary interceptor sewer ranging in size from 24" to 108" diameter serving
northeastern, eastern and southern Marion County to convey wastewater to the Southport Advanced Wastewater
Treatment Plant. Mel Wessler served as Project Manager and was responsible for IDEM and USEPA funding and
agency approvals. The firm continued to grow through the years, and today provides Civil, Sanitary,
Environmental, Structural, and Electrical Engineering and Land Surveying Services.
Martin A. Wessler, P.E., has been with the firm since his college days. Following graduation, he joined the firm
as an Engineering Intern. As he acquired more experience, he assumed more responsibility as Project Engineer, Project
Manager, and Vice President. He now serves as President and C.E.O. of the firm. He oversees and manages our firm's
efforts to provide high quality multi-disciplined services to our private and public clients.
The firm began with a total personnel complement of two, and since that time has grown to its present level. Located originally at Turtle Creek Office Centre, the firm has moved three times to larger offices to accommodate our expanding staff. In 1993, we moved our headquarters to our present location at 6219 South East Street, Indianapolis. In 2001, we opened a branch office in Connersville, in 2005 we opened our second branch office in Evansville, and in 2006 we opened our third branch office in West Lafayette so that we can ensure that we continue to provide quality services to our clients in eastern, north-western and southern Indiana.
